What type of arrows, bows and protective equipment are the best for archery?

E.g. longbow, recurved bow etc.
single, dual, hybrib cam bow etc.
E.g. Aluminium, carbon, wooden arrow etc.
E.g. Finger tab, chest guard etc.- are they necessary?
this is for the training in the olympics=)

If your goal is to get to the Olympics, you can only go one route, that is the recurve bow. Longbows and compounds are not allowed in the Olympics.

It then boils down to your budget. Olympic style recurves vary in price from $400 for a complete set to over $3000.

If money is no object this is the complete setup of my dreams
Riser: Hoyt Helix or Win&Win Inno
Limbs: Samick Masters
Sight: Shibuya Ultima RC carbon
Plunger: Beiter
Clicker: Beiter
Rest: ARE
Stabilizer: 30″ Doinker Quadraflex with V-Bar, 10″ side rods
Arrows: Easton X10 with Tungsten points or Carbon Express Nano Pro.
Finger Tab(and yes it is very necessary): Win&Win 360
Chest Protector: Angel
Arm guard: Beiter
String: 20 strand 8125 string with Majesty center serving

Now when you’re building your rig, here’s my first advice. Get together with a coach. Choosing a coach is like choosing a doctor, they’re not all built the same. Even coaches with the same certification level doesn’t usually have the same knowledge level. So shop around and find out each coach’s teaching style.

Here’s another advice about equipment, the riser is the one thing that you can keep forever. So get a good one, one that you like. With risers nowadays, most of the mid to top tier risers will outperform just about anyone alive. So it boils down to feel and looks. Some risers come with narrow grip, some with fat grip, it’s all a matter of preference. Some riser like to jump out of your hand, some just rolls off, also preference. But at the beginning, find a riser that you like and then get yourself some cheap, light weight and crappy limbs. Practice with the cheap limbs and slowly get to your target weight. Don’t jump up too high as you will destroy your form in the process.

As for the finger tab, it’s mandatory. I’ve seen what shooting without a finger tab does and it ain’t pretty. A fellow I was shooting with at a tournament had never used finger tabs, he’s a construction worker so a pretty tough guy. Well, problem is he usually never shoot more than 20 arrows at practice. At this tournament you need to shoot 144 arrows on the first day and another 100 arrows on the second day. I was surprised he made it through all the way. But at the end of the tournament he had quarter sized blisters all over his finger and string hand was shaking from the pain.

Chest guard, is there just in case. If your form is good, you will need one to keep the string off your shirt. Most beginners don’t have the perfect alignment yet, so they usually don’t wear chest guards.

I think try archery …?

I always thought it was interesting to archery, I say. My parents looked at me when I say oO I wanted to try archery. I wondered how it was. I'm just a teenager, then I do not spend thousands of dollars to get all dolled up my bow. I begin with a bow and wooden arrows cheap practice, as the good old days. And there are other uses for bow hunting only? No I think hunting for fun. I want to make an object of the present as I have … have no idea. I guess it would be fun to have that expertise. Could kill one or two peaks, three of the animals. If no other use of it, then fine. But in reality, what is it?

Archery is great fun as a sport. It is an Olympic sport that is small enough where you can meet and take some of the best shooters in the world. It is also sufficiently small handles that you see to help other shooters, even in competition. I suggest before going out to buy his first bow, choose a beach. Some beaches have a beginner class, other require a nominal fee for the class, others are free. Most beaches in the area of Los Angeles offers free lessons, for example, and equipment also free during the period you want to use. So if you're so close to take advantage of this first.

Types of Archery Equipment

Archery is a great sport to those who enjoy the art and skill of accuracy and precision.

Archery is an art, skill or practice dealing with an arrow and bow for warfare, hunting or as a sport. Contemporary bows used for pushing arrows, are usually made of fiberglass, wood, or carbon composites. Graphites can also be used with a string or a taut cord to connect the bend ends of the bow.

An arrow is commonly made of carbon graphite or aluminum, pointed at one end and a fight-stabilizing feather at the other end. The notch of this butt end is fitted and built into the bowstring. As the taut cord is recoiled, the bow bends for maximum pressure. When the taut is released, the arrow is propelled.

Basic archery equipment consist of arrows and bows. It should be accurately constructed and be made of the finest materials. Otherwise, the user will face difficulties, especially in mounting the arrow. And proper mounting is very crucial to properly shoot the target.

There are compound bows and Penobscot bows (also known as double bows). All bows consist of a string connected to stretch limbs, piling up mechanical energy and imparted by the user as it draws the string.

Bows can be split into two categories. The first one employs a mechanism to pull the string and the other kind pulls the string directly.

Straight drawn bows can be divided based on the method of limb assembly. This would include composite bows, self-bows, and laminated bows. Bows can also be classified by the bow shape of the limbs, especially when unstrung in a bow.

Recurve bows have a tip curving away from the user when the bow is unstrung. There are also cross-selections of the limbs such as with flat bows and longbows.

Flat bows possess a wide limb and have a rectangular cross-section, while longbows are tall bows having narrow limbs with a D-shape in the cross section.

A normal arrow consists of a shaft with an arrowhead connected onto the front end. Shafts are commonly made of fiberglass, solid wood, aluminum alloy, carbon fiber, carbon, or alloy composite.

Fiberglass arrows are brittle. Wooden arrows are sturdier, shaped flat to warping. Nowadays, alloy and carbon arrows are popular as tournament arrows for the Olympics.

If you plan to enter this sport, the experts suggest starting with high quality equipment. Cheap arrows and bows can be unreliable and inaccurate. The poly constructed ones can even injure a person.

There are accessory equipment you can try to aid you in this sport. The handle and grip come in handy in using compound and recurve bows. It is usually made from wood or plastic. Grips and handles are usually chosen to fit the bow and the user.

The riser is the middle part of the bow, holding most of the equipment attached onto the bow such as sight, limbs and button. Several risers have aerodynamic qualities like holes that let the wind pass through the user.

Limbs are the longest pieces of the bow, attached to the riser. Some limbs are layered from different types of materials, making it smooth. Modern limbs can be made from carbon, a lighter and sufficient material.

Any good archery store should have what you are looking for — even places like Cabela’s and Bass Pro. But try an archery store that specializes in Traditional Archery first, they’re the most likely place to have them.

If you can’t find an archery store in your area,

http://www.threeriversarchery.com/

has what you are looking for, as do

http://fsdiscountarchery.com/

and

http://www.kustom-king.com/

And just so you have the needed info on making arrows, here are two websites for you:

http://www.geocities.com/greenmanarchery/index.html

Good luck, and congratulations on taking the “next step” in making your own arrows!
