How did Fred Bear hunt Kodiak bears, and polar bear with a bow? ?
I never read about him having a dude with a rifle near him.
Yes, Fred Bear used guides, and those guides often had a rifle with them — but the rifles were used purely as “backup”, in case the bears attacked or were otherwise a direct danger to life and limb. Fred Bear rarely had to use that backup, and never liked to use it, but he was not an idiot — he took as many precautions as possible. Only a complete idiot would forgo having someone with a good long gun available when only 30 yards away from a teed-off bruin. And a teed-off Kodiak (or Polar Bear) can cover those 30 yards in less than five seconds.
As for how he hunted Kodiaks and Polar Bears with a bow… It’s about the same as hunting moose, caribou or elk with a bow. There’s a lot of tracking and spot-and-stalk that has to be done.

Recurve Bow String length?
I have a Fred Bear Kodiak Magnum recurve since 1972, its 45th in a lottery weight #, and the arc is said that AMO is 52. "I read an article on the chain length to get, but I keep reading mixed answers. So a string of length I need? Any help is thanks.
First – "LOVE" is "The manufacturers of archery and Organization merchants, is now the archery "Trade Association (ATA)" http://www.archerytrade.org/ Now here that the AMO (now ATA) has to say about the length of the string to "classical" AMO in the vaults of publication standards committee PF-3 field, reviewed 5 / 00 (May 2000): AMO AMO CONVENTIONAL BOW STANDARD TIME arc length standard is designated to be three inches longer than the AMO Master Bow String that supports the arch to the right height or chain Brace. Chain Loop Master transmits the length of the appointment. Example: A Master Bow String designated as AMO 66 "(arc length) will have a real length with a voltage of 63 years." This means that under the rules AMO chain for the arc must be 49 inches long, "live". If you receive a "AMO 52" 45 pounds "string, it must be the right time to bow.

Is the Fred Bear Super Kodiak recurve bow worth the $500 it costs?
I’m debating between this bow and the Fred Bear Grizzly recurve bow. Is it worth the extra $170?
Every penny, the bow is a classic and holds it’s value. Older bows of the same model are still selling for $300+
