what kind or types of compound bow assosiatians are there, and what are the differences.?
Just bought a Bowtech Gaurdian to have fun with and some hunting with friends
I live in north eastern Rhode Island
There are several organizations and different competitions. To pratice hunting go to one with targets over different terrain and ranges and you will improve your ability FAST. Do NOT pick one where they shoot at set ranges standing on flat surfaces, that is not going to happen when you hunt.
I would advise you to just go to the shop and get in with some guys that shoot. This sport is a LOT of fun and if you can shoot a rifle, you can shoot a bow. There are a lot of different competitions and the emphasis on them each is different.
Go play a few games. Just get to where you can hit a plate at 30yards and you won’t be the worst, and if you are who cares, start somewhere and have fun.
You will probably find one group of guys is more plesant than another. I have a better time with pistol and shotgun shooters than rifle for example. Once you find the group that is about FUN, and not about being self absorbed, stick with them. You will find most people who are actually tallented, will help you so that you get better. They will help with form, equipment, everything.
The cost of most competitions is not much. I pay 15-20-25 here depending on the game being played and the area. For the entertainment value and the length of time you play, that is mighty inexpensive.
Good luck. And personally, I love Bowtech. They make great bows. You will get about 6-12 months from the string and when you do replace it, use a high quality (Winners Choice or some other real nice string). That is about the only upgrade you need ever. Oh, and for hunting a bow mount quiver, for target a hip TUBE.
Release is a personal pref. Scott or Copperhead are nice and inexpensive.
