Sibak Al-khayl (horse racing) in Islam
Horse is an important and valuable member of mammals. Among the earliest evidence of the importance of the horse to human culture are the wall paintings discovered in the caves of Lascaux in southern France, dating around 30,000 BC C. The first horse became useful in the welfare sometimes before 1500 BC, when the people of Mesopotamia began to use horses to pull their chariots. However, one issue rose Canon Taylor in his Origin of Aryans (p. 161), if the horse was at first for the production of cars or riding horse. He and William Ridgeway (Academy of 3 January 1891) says that: " first the horse was very small and unable to carry the man and that was after generations of domestication under the care of food and the horse breeding became large enough to bring man to his back with ease. "According to Max Müller, it is clear that the Vedas, India, is used both for driving cars and riding.
The race of thoroughbreds, whose remote ancestor, Eohippus, was a small hoofed quadruped about the size of a fox, is the most beautiful animal kept by humans. Through careful selection process through the race course test in a period two hundred and fifty years, a brave and noble animal has formed in the hands of specialized breeders, from an original blend of imported purebred Arab and so-called Turkish or Barbary bulls and English mares hybrids in Europe in the late 17th century.
The earliest dates for the races horses have not been confirmed yet. Contests however, was not held in Babylon, Syria and Egypt. Clay tablets excavated in Cappadocia in Asia Minor, written in 1400 BC C. revealed in the training of racehorses. The four horse chariot races were introduced in the Olympics in Greece in the 23rd Olympiad, or about 664 BC 33rd Olympiad was that the race riding horses first introduced about 624 BC C., and the first race horses saddled, was held at the Games of 564 a. C.
Horse racing results from the war, chariot races, and persecution, and not without significance that, at the time of Roman occupation Britain's Queen Boadicea and her people, the Iceni tribe, lived in Newmarket Heath, and that their gold and silver coins were stamped on the back with the picture of a horse. The first horse race in England, of which there is still a record, took place in Netherby in Yorkshire in about AD 210 from Arabian horses brought to Europe by the Emperor Roman Septimius Severus Alexander, who made special arrangements for housing and training of these fine horses. In the reign of King Richard I, the horse race became in a fashionable pastime for the barons and knights. It was not until the reign of King Henry VIII to the first race course was officially established in the Roodee in Chester in 1540, and a annual award instituted for the first time, who took the form of a silver bell, and also this monarch did much to improve the actual amounts and the horse race in general throughout the country.
Arabic is considered the oldest purebred, but its exact origins have not been verified by lack of scientific evidence. Sculpture old and ancient rock paintings representing Arab-looking horses in the Arabian Peninsula, and the inscriptions on the wall of Egypt, confirmed that a type Arabic has existed in the Middle East for over 3000 years. These Eastern and Oriental, horses are considered the main root population of all the equines of southern warm-blooded versus cold northern blood.
As an old Arab pure race is extremely arrogant, and for centuries has been used to grade, with the result that there is scarcely a light horse breed that does not contain some Arab blood – most outstanding race to evolve from Arab sources is the thoroughbred. The foundation stock was a mixture of Eastern mares and stallions, and horses and other British Gallowavs. Three stallions phenomenal "The Darley Arabian, the Byerley Turk and Godolphin Arabian – Thoroughbred ancestry dominated, and all traces of pure blood in the male line only these three.
Originally, most the Arabs were nomads. With a climate of extreme food shortages, and the hard work expected of the horses, was a division of the survival of the fittest. In the days that the tribes were constantly at war or attacks were a regular occurrence, Arabic is based on speed and endurance of his horse for survival. Mares were used for raids against the enemy, as the stallions could not be trusted to remain silent, and the Arab mare became a most precious treasure of its owner.
When the fight against the rider carries a spear (which in some northern tribes could be up to 6 meters long) and the mare had to be very agile, able to stop dead in its wake, turn on their hocks, and dart back. The mares are kept tethered in Bedouin camps and sometimes share a tent with his teacher. Centuries of living in close proximity to humans have endowed the Arabic with an exceptional ability to form strong partnerships with people. Probably not there were horses in Arabia before the Christian era, and are direct descendants of the wild horses of North Africa Libya, which was domesticated in Egypt. Ridgeway States the kings of Egypt had these horses 1500 years BC and probably came to Spain through Palestine during the 1st and 6th centuries.
According to the Encyclopedia American (14:391), "The horses began to appear in Arabia in the 1st century BC, and at the time of (the prophet) Muhammad a single rate and distinct from the Arabian horse has evolved. "The Prophet used horses to great effect in the holy wars. results faster and more maneuverable than the camels. It was the Prophet who ordered that horses should be raised by the faithful, so it would be better prepared to gallop and spread the faith of Islam. The order of the Prophet, enshrined in the Quran means that horse breeding began among the Bedouins and the Arab race truly began. Historian Ibn Khallikan (3:476) writes that "We know that in the cavalry 12,000 Berber who landed in Spain under the command of Tariq bin Zihad, there were twelve Arabian horses. Hence the Arab horses introduced to the West. "Thus, Arabic became the home of Derby in England.
The common Arabic word for horse is Faras, if stallion (Fahl) or mare, and the collective khayl. The word for horse khayl occurs five times in the Koran. The title and first verse of Sura 79 (those that attract Naziat al-) and Sura 100 (corridors, Al-Adiyat) are probably more references to horses. The title of Sura 37 (those who dress the ranks, al-Saffat), Surah 51 (Those who scattering Dhariyat al-) and Surah 77 (Those Sent, Al-Mursalat) can also refer to them as well.
According to the Qur'an: "For that panted Adiyat implementing and those who strike fire bet "(100:1-2). Most commentators suggest that the meaning of Adiyat panting like horses on the authority of Ibn Abbas.
"And (he created) the horses and mules and donkeys for you to mount and as Zinat" (16:8). The Arabic word zina Zinat mean or ornament, amusement or entertainment. Therefore, horses, mules and donkeys, which are prominent horses are supposed not only to assemble, but breeding and racing.
Tradition said that the first was riding the Prophet Ishmael. Still others claim that Arabian horses are descendants of Solomon. The latter inherited 1000 horses from David. It is said that once Azd tribe that came to Solomon and asked for a gift, he gave one of the horses, which gave the name of al-zad rakib; from him descended all the horses Arabs.
An ancient race who came to fame with the rise of Islam. They have been bred pure strains closely guarded desert heat of thoroughbred horses for centuries – It is said that an Arab can recite their favorite horses pedigree dating back to 600 AD The best horses were never sold and never came out of Arabia. God is said to have set the horse of the south wind, and some Arabian horses are the Prophet's thumb mark on her neck, where Muhammad was supposed to be touched
Horse Racing (sibak al-khayl or ijra-khayl) was a great sport and a favorite pastime in pre-Islamic Arabia. It was part of the riding (Furusiyya) considered as essential for military training and as an object of entertainment for people from all walks of life. During the Islamic period, breeding, maintenance and training horses became a means to facilitate the prosecution of holy war. The Prophet regarded horse-breeding as a meritorious calling, and assigned a quota the booty from the battlefield. This religious sanction fostered a competitive attitude among the breeders and encourages the increase of the population, who suffered losses significant during the wars of the era. Cavalry was in fact to become an important factor in military success of the Muslims.
Kunwar Muhammad Ashraf writes in living conditions and the people of Hindustan (Karachi, 1978, p. 187) that "Horse racing was so popular. I had the additional advantage of blessings of the Prophet, who had banned other entertainment and gaming in no uncertain terms, but was lenient with betting on horse racing. A regular literature soon arose in the study of habits, foods and nutrition, care and training of horses, which honors the scientific methods of the time. It is quite reasonable to infer from these facts that the number of race horses was quite large in the amounts of the sultans and nobles. Special Arabian horses imported for racing purposes Yamen, Oman and Fars. Each animal is reported to have cost one hundred to four thousand Tank ".
It is therefore not surprising that a rich literature came into being, containing information on hippology, horse breeding, pedigrees of the horses and their various categories, horse racing, horse racing, blacksmithing and horseback riding. No other animal evoked from the writers of the time such a large number of literary, both in prose and poetry. Ibn Nadim, in his famous catalog of books in Arabic, compiled 377/987, Kitab al-Fihrist (trans. by Bayard Dodge, London 1970, pp. 80-213), mentions the following works on the horse and on issues related to it: Kitab al-Khayl by Abu Ubaidah (d. 210/825), Kitab al-Khayl, Kitab Khalq al-Kitab al-Faras and wal-Sarj lijam by Asma'i (d. 213/828), Kitab al-Khayl by Ahmed bin Hatim (d. 231/846), Kitab al-Faras by Ibrahim al-Khalq Zujaj (d. 310/914), Kitab al-Kabir and Kitab al-Saghir khayl and khayl wal-Kitab al-lijam Sarj Durayd Ibn (d. 321/925), Kitab al-Kitab al-khayl and Nasab khayl by Mohammed bin Ziyad al-Arabi (d. 231/846), Kitab Khalq al-Faras by Abi Thabit, Kitab al-Khalq Khayl by Hisham bin Ibrahim al-Kirmani, Kitab al-Faras al-Khalq by Kassim Anbari, Kitab al-Sawabik by khayl-Khawlani, Kitab al-Khalq for Washsha Faras (d. 325/930), Kitab al – khayl by Hisham al-Kalbi (d. 207/822), Kitab al-wal-Rihan khayl by Madaini (d. 215/830), Kitab al-Wal-Rihan Hala'ib by Ahmed al-Khazzaz (d. 258/871 ), Kitab al-bi Khatt khayl Ibn al-Kufi by Mohammad bin Habib, Kitab al-Fursan by Abu Khalifa (d. 305/909), Kitab al-Sifat khayl Wal Ardiya Asmaiha Makka wa wa ma bin Walah by Abu al-Ashath, Kitab Akhbar al-wa – Faras Ansabuha by Abul Hasan al-Nasser al-Kitab al-Qadi khayl by Ashna'i, Kitab al-khayl by Attabi, Kitab al-khayl by Utabi (d. 228 / 843), Kitab al-al-Kabir Ahmed khayl by bin Abi Tahir (d. 280/894) and the Kitab al-Ansab Jamhara al-Faras, Ibn Khurdadhbih (d. 300/904). Masudi (d. 345/950) in Muruj al-Dahab (Paris, 1861, 4:24-5) refers of a book called al-wal by Jala'ib Hala'ib Lahi'a bin Issa, a work which, he said, included a detailed description of almost every race (Akkar) of the periods of pre-Islamic and Islamic.
In the Hidayah (2:432), it is said that horses are of four types: 1) Birzaun or Burzun (a horse heavy firing brought from foreign countries). 2) Atiq (a horse blood for the first time in Arabia). 3) Hain (half-breed horses, whose mother is an Arab, and father of an alien), and 4) A horse race through whose father is Arab and whose mother is a foreigner).
Maydans Long (racetracks) were set aside for this purpose in Arabia. According to al-Fursan Hilayat Shi'ar fi al-Shuja (Leiden, 1872, p. 142), Ibn Hudhayl, "Islam forbade gambling (MAIS), but allowed gaming marketing archery (nasal), foot-racing (qadam) and horse racing (Hafir), "Egyptian scholar Lahiah bin Isa (d. 762) and is credited with a book entitled Al-wal Jala'ib Hala'ib in which he mentioned all the races, where horses were held in pre-Islamic and Islamic times. The work of al-Asma'i, Kitab al-khayl (ed. Haffner, Vienna, 1875) and the Kitab al-Sarj Abu Ubaidah are very rich to provide related information.
According to al-Fadl khayl (p.389) by Ad-Dimyati (1217-1306), "Contrary to the hadith of the Prophet, which allowed competition with camels, horses and arrow (Khuff, Hafir, NASL), Some people even happy that the races which betting is allowed only for horses, as this was what the Arabs of antiquity were accustomed. "We can also cite what Dimyati ad has to say in Chapter 5 of his Al-Fadl khayl that," Ibn Banin (1181-1263) mentioned in his book that the Messenger God raced horses with clothing that had arrived from yamen as stakes. He gave the winner (sabiq) three, the second horse (Musallin) two, the horse third, fourth horse one dinar, the horse dhiram fifth, sixth and the horse of a rod (qasabah). He said: "May God bless you and all of you, the winner (sabiq) and the loser (fiskil).
Abul Hasan Ahmad bin Yahya bin Jabir al-Baladhuri, Ibn Sad, al-Waqidi, Muhaymin bin Abd al-Abbas bin Sahl bin Sad, her father (Abbas), his grandfather (Sahl), who said: "(Once) when the Messenger of God running horses, I went in his az-Zarib. He gave me a Yamenite layer.
The (al-Baladhuri) said: I was told by Muhammad bin Sad Al-Waqidi, Bin Sulayman al-Harith bin az-Zubair ibn Abi Al-Mundir Usayd, who said: "Abu-Saidi Usayd as the horse raced on the Prophet Lizaz, and gave him a Yemeni garment.
Al-Khuttali reports in his book a tradition of Ibn Lahiah, Amr bin Bakr, Ibrahim bin Muslim, Abu Alqamah, the client of the Banu Hashim (indicating) that the Messenger of God had ordered the horses to be raced, and gave as prizes for them (sabbaqaha) three clusters of dates three palm trees. He gave a bunch to the winner, each second horse, and one the third horse. They were fresh dates. "(See al-Fadl Khayl by Ad-Dimyati)
Of According to Dar-Qutni (2:552), "was another horse Sanjah Prophet used to go. Once having a career. He won and the Prophet was much Delig

Fitness Trends for a Better & Healthier YOU!
As we are well into the summer months and many of us have decided to make new commitment to lose weight and/or get into better shape. Key point to remember is to keep to the basic work at your pace and gradually increase your effort and persistence toward your goal you have set to reach.
Anne Wilkinson is a spokesperson for the American Council of Exercise (ACE) she says “sometimes the initial thrill or novelty of an exercise program wears off. Sometimes people miss a few sessions and then have a hard time getting back on track, the fitness industry to consumers’ needs for new ideas or change by adapting programs”.
Back to the Basics:
- Canadians have very busy schedules from taking care of children to working in the professions. While the committed will go the gym to exercise, the average people will look for a way to squeeze it in.
Terry Gogna, success coach says “ You cannot “make” or “manage” TIME. You can only create and manage personal events.”
You may begin using the F.I.T method which will give the stair step effect of moving forward and deals with basic fitness needs like strength, balance and flexibility.
Function
Utilize your surroundings as you go through your day. From taking the stairs either on the subway or at work instead of the elevator (even a few floors to start!). Movement is important, we sit in a chair for most of the day, so standing up for at least a few minutes would be good and go for brief walk to doing some simple leg lifts to shoulder stretch can be done.
Innovate
Everyone surroundings are different, even before you get to work you can do some stretches/ sit-ups or running to start you day of in an energetic way. At work find an area and do some arm stretches, heads rolls or some speed walking. This will increase you heart beat slight and flex your muscles.
Trend
As you begin to get in the groove of you daily physical activity next step is to you do it for at least 21 days at that time it will become a habit will be part of your day in an effortless way. Key factor is to have people from friends and co-workers to encourage you and even accountable on your journey to a healthier you.
Team Up!:
One of the best ways to do it with someone, have an accountability partner to track your activities. You can motivate and inspire each other to get up in the morning to go for that morning jog or go with power walk with you co-worker. Turn on your IPod and inspire through songs to create musical inspiration.
Studies have shown that when teaming up with people either for personal or business goals, the possibilities for success are much higher to the face you have the encouragement and support of people around who want to see everyone succeed.
- When you go out to events or to the gym it’s important to meet new people and get used to the surroundings. Many gyms have multiple locations which is even better suited to see different aspects of the gym and interact with different trainers and members.
Jim P Testimonial
“Since I have been going to the gym for the past year it has been of great impact to talk and interact with trainers and to various gyms and trying out various machines. Have met entrepreneurs and fellow gym members with inspiring and motivating stories of the importance of health & wellness in their lives, being persistent and making it part of their daily routine was key factor and making the experience a success”

Work out at Home or guest pass at the local GYM:
My personal experience is I worked out at home for 2 years at 3 days week which included cycling in spring and summer and participated in biking and running events in the summer. Proceed to go try out fitness facility and try out the machines and other programs to get used to the environment. Got a fitness evaluation and proceeded to go and work out 4 days a week.
Had attended a Yoga class recently and the instructor said it’s the “process not the procedure” very much the same in moving forward in taking stair step effect in doing some exercises as home/work or just going out and using one day/10 day pass at a local gym.
Your are creating new habits that in the beginning may seem somewhat challenging as you begin to put the effort and energy you will created the momentum that eventually make it part of your daily routine. Similar steps occur in the work environment from learning a new method or procedure through persistence and trial and error you will eventually learn the new skills.
“Momentum is gaining the desired result by repeating successful actions”
Lori Raudnask
Specialty Facilities:
Over the past 10 years there have many facilities that cater to specific regimens from Yoga, Pilates. There are also community gym that are available usually for small fee that you can go play basketball or volleyball at. You can also search online and you will find organizations that offer different types of events from archery, tennis clinics & paint ball!
Picking one of these avenues is stress free and allows you to test yourself out without any pressure. Events are provide relaxed atmosphere and do things at your own pace.
Mixing it Up!:
As mentioned earlier routine is for some the hardest to create or break. Great quote by Robert Rohm “ secret to your success is in your daily routine”
Many of us have to get our morning coffee or donut and take the same route to work and pick up the newspaper at the same newsstand. Let’s change that routine for the next three weeks and get you apple juice! , at different location, pick up and read health magazine this week and take a different route to work ( even if it’s just a couple of streets).
You will be amazed how these new experience(s) will make you feel and how you will start to create and new habit for YOU.
As you begin to work out you self-esteem and confidence will begin to increase and this will allow you to be more effortless in the regimen.
In a conversation with Sue Dier R.N. she made the following observations from here 25 years in the nursing field.
She had great quote “elevator is broken please use stairs”
It was interesting quote but very serious result. Delay gratification is done by many by skipping meals to loose or stop smoking to live longer. It comes down to taking basis steps in make sure you get the right nutritional needs and creating the commitment to stick to you plan.
- There are number of factors Sue has seen from Obesity, social environment from long term family & friends to believe that adage “ you can’t teach an old dog new trick” which according to Sue is simply not true. There were numerous times where patient were way above the normal weight, which affected the ability for patients to recover quickly and effectively. Drinks high sugar and high caffeine has brought ongoing issue of diabetes from too much sugar intake.
Have Fun!
In any action you begin to do its important to have some excitement from listen to music on your Ipod to talking about your experience to fellow trainer and people you meet in you surroundings. Motivation come in many way internal and external factors it understand what drives you to keep in moving forward and allowing your momentum to fuel that energy you enjoy the experience and being happy with the results that you will striving to achieve and work for.
Many great videos and dvd’s available at your library and bookstore. Plenty of magazine that can give you suggestions and tips that you can incorporate in your workout routine.

When a christian commits fornication does she confess to God “God my vagina felt on his penis by accident”?
To quote a YA christian
“as a Christian, I use the same definition of the word ‘sin’ that Jesus used, a Greek word – hamartia.
Hamartia is an archery term that means, literally, ‘to miss the mark’, (because one’s aim was off,) or, ‘to make a mistake’, so when Jesus says to ‘go and sin no more’, he meant, ‘recognize your mistake and try to do better next time’
yes, I make mistakes and I know that Jesus wants me to try again and do better”
And when a christian commits adultery does he confess to God “God please forgive me, I thought she was wife.”
Or when he steals does he confess to God ” Sorry God, I didn’t know it wasn’t mines.”
Can you say ‘oops!’?
You don’t look out there for God, something in the sky, you look in you.-Alan Watts
