I've been doing archery for a while .. and I have been using arches provided by the club I shoot. 18M and I'm shooting 14 years I am thinking of saving money for my team first * archery quivers, guards, etc., * after rising the great arch itself. Can you use Wisdom for melee attack bonus in D&D?
I know that with the Weapon Finesse feat you can use DEX, instead of STR, for light weapons (and select other weapons), but I was wondering if there was a feat that would allow usage of WIS for melee attack bonuses so that as a monk I don’t need to have my ability scores so highly divided between STR, DEX, WIS, and CON. (WIS isn’t, directly, related to attacking, but most/all of the monk’s special abilities are related to WIS, including Save DCs, which are big for using Stunning Fist and Quivering Palm.) So, do any of you know of an existing feat for this? I doubt there is one, but meh. If there isn’t, I’ll just stick to the Zen Archery feat and the Soulknife, Soulbow, Illumine Soul, one level of monk (to make use of high WIS), Tattooed Monk, and Order of the Bow Initiate classes and prestiege classes. Which, btw…do any of you think that sounds like a good combination of classes/prestiege classes?
There is one feat that does that, it’s in Book of Exalted Deeds. It applies to only simple weapons. Can’t recall the name right now, but it does cover unarmed attacks. It suffers from the same weakness as Weapon Finesse, you can raise your attack that way, but not damage. Still, with a monk, that’s not really a problem.
As for the archer combo, your Dex should be high enough to get little or no benefit from Zen Archery, if you want +1 attack from a feat, Weapon Focus qualifies you for more feats or prestige classes. This is obviously a fairly high level build with that many classes, it might work ok, but without looking over the exact abilities, I can’t be sure. And I can’t even remember what an Illumine Soul does at all. I recognize the name, but that’s it.
